[εις επαινον δοξης αυτου] New comment on Ideas Have Consequences, citation #1.
Matthew LaPine has left a new comment on your post "Ideas Have Consequences, citation #1":
No I don't read a lot of readers of Weaver. In particular I was talking about dissidens, but edited it because I don't really like to make this personal, so I chose to make it a general statement. As you know, I'm bothered by the philosophical approach which tries to define aesthetic and cultural excellence in terms of a higher objective. I tend to think that this approach creates its own higher objective which is apart from God himself. As to the mad comment, dissidens is vitriolic in his writings and reading Weaver I'm starting to understand why. Honestly, I probably should have thought better of how I phrased this comment because I don't hate dissidens, but rather his elitist philosophy. I think its displays no virtue, so I should continue to display virtue in my criticism.
Mea culpa.
